Employment in Penrith’s industrial zones has increased by six percent in the past two years, according to Steve Willingale, acting CEO, of the Penrith Valley Economic Development Corporation (PVEDC).
This finding resulted from PVEDC’s 2007 Penrith Valley Business and Export Survey which is nearing completion.
“We are encouraged by this and many other aspects of the study, such as the number of businesses exporting. The study is now being reviewed by the members of the PVEDC Board and I expect it to be publicly released in the near future,” he said.
The survey, the third in the series, was commissioned by PVEDC and used seven final year students from the University of Western Sydney. “ I wish to thank them for their efforts which involved knocking on over 1,500 business doors in six industrial zones, over a three week period,” he said.
“Further to this they then followed up and finalised incomplete surveys, updated our data base and commenced analysing the information gathered,” he added.
“The public release of this our third survey is being eagerly waited upon, the information and recommendations contained within should make interesting reading,” Mr Willingale said.
